PAUL ATTERBURY a renowned expert on the Arts and Crafts movement who appears regularly n the BBC Antiques Roadshow.
PATRICK MACKINTOSH Local antique dealer and Chairman of the West of England Antique Dealers Association. Expert in Arts and Crafts furniture.
While William Morris is the best known Arts and Crafts designer, there are many other outstanding designers whose work covers architecture, furniture, metal work, fabric design, pottery and jewellery. After an outline of the theoretical background to the movement we shall examine the work of Charles Voysey, C.R.Ashbee, W.A.S.Benson, Archibald Knox, Christopher Dresser, and the Martin Brothers. Each short lecture will be followed by a short open question time.
The aim of the study day is to reveal, illustrate and explore the huge range of Arts and Crafts design, some of which can still be seen in antiques shops. The day will appeal to those interested in the history of arts and design as well as to collectors.
